I am thrilled that so many companies have switched, but does anyone knows if it is safe to dissolve them down the drain if we have a septic tank and secondary cesspool?

Should be safe but why take chances.
I have a septic and my rule of thumb is never to throw anything down it
that can go into the trash. That includes stuff that might degrade like
Kleenex.
You might also compost them.
