I am interested in doing an alkylation reaction using tetrabutylammonium fluoride
on a silylenolether. Could someone give me some pointers as to how best to remove
water from this extremely hygroscopic compound? I have tried azeoptropically distill
away the water using 1:1 toluene:THF; but that doesn't seem to work too well (at
least not dry enough for my reaction to work.) Is stirring it in THF with activated
molecular sieves effective? Thanks in advance for your advice.
