I found an abbreviation in a chemistry want ad that I am unfamiliar
with. Here is the sentence that it is in:
Responsibilities include the development of bioanalytical assays and their
implementation, as well as
preparation of documentation for submission to regulatory agencies and for
compliance with GLPs and
SOPs. I believe that SOP is standard operating procedure but what does GLP
stand for?

thanks for any help!

Good Laboratory Practices.

At least, to me.

And in case you are not familiar with GLP's <G>, you need to
know that they are not only what _you_ and _I_ would consider
good laboratory practices, but what the relevant regulatory
agency (mainly the FDA) considers Good Laboratory Practices.
There is a long and complex regulation in Title 21 of the
Code of Federal Regulations, defining what they require.

As others have stated, its Good Laboratory Practices. However, it more than
just "good laboratory practices"...They are a set of procedures published
by the (probably) FDA that specify exactly how reproducible laboratory
work is to be performed. It's more formal than just "being careful."
