I am interested in the synthesis of photochromic compounds especially
showing black color upon UV light irradiation. I know that some
colorless spiropyrans turn into purple merocyanine, diarylethenes
changes their color to red or yellow or blue depending on the
structure, fulgides to red or blue. Are there any photochromic
compounds known which change their color from colorless to black?
