I'm looking to persue a degree in bioinformatics. Are such degrees
offered in many schools or do you have to go out and get 2 degrees, one
in bio and one in computers? I already have a BS in Biochem anyway, but
I just want to know what's out there. So far, I've checked out the
schools here where I live (western new york) and I haven't seen any with
bioinformatics programs. I'd like to go to school around here, but if
bioinformatics programs are scarce, I may consider going somewhere
else. Any information you can provide me on this subject would be
greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Rob
Rob:
I'm in a Masters program at the University of Pennsylvania in
Biotechnology, in the bioinformatics track. The program just started
this year, and I'm enjoying it. Penn also offers a doctorate programs
through either the biology department or the computer science
department in computational biology, if that's what you're looking
for.
