My hypothesis suggests that metabolism is a daily process with two
distinct i metabolic periods.
The first is the anabolic phase that lasts from the morning breakfast
hour through most of the deep sleep or NREM period that night.
The second is the catabolic phase that lasts from the end of deep
sleep to waking and breakfast hours the next morning.
My thinking was that if this was true there should be two noticeable
change periods. And that each would probably have potential health
problems connected to them.
What I found was that there was a strong correlation of heart
problems connected to these two daily periods where catabolic changed
to anabolic and vice versa.
During the anabolic to catabolic switch period, in one of the later
periods of NREM sleep, there is the documented problem of sleep
terrors or night terrors. These seem to have symptoms of panic attacks
with speeded up heart beats and feelings of great fear.
During the catabolic to anabolic switch period, during the first hours
after waking up, most heart attacks happen. Waking up we feel groggy.
Then there is a point where we switch over and we become active. This
may prove a difficult switch over to those who are susceptible to
heart problems.
My suggestion, is to investigate if there is a daily metabolic cycle
of catabolic and anabolic periods, and if there is a switch over at
these two points in the day. And if so is there a connection, other
than a just-so story, with certain heart ailments, sleep disorders,
and or other health problems. Then find possible therapies to fix or
ameliorate them.
