Genes located directly next to a telomere are silenced (unfortunately this basic fact does not silence Dawkins et al). As telomeres shorten with age, genes up to 1000 kilo bases away may be affected demonstrating a unique heritable epistatic relationship between alleles and telomeres located on both ends of each chromosome. Of course, none of the above can possibly be true since Fisher's 1900's mathematics proved that absolutely no epistasis is heritable in sexual species conveniently allowing e to excised entirely from Hamilton's Rule...
