I have a question regarding these "bugs" that have shown up in my house
and on my deck in the last couple of weeks. I live in upstate NY. The
"bugs" are about 1 to 1 1/2 inches long, and about 1/4 of an inch wide.
They are black with two red dots on the back and two red stripes
forming a > on their backs. They fly. I've not seen them before and I
have been living in this house for 10 years. Do I need to be concerned
and have them exterminated (I've only found 2 inside the house so far,
but there are about 10 of them between the screen and the inside glass
door at this point, so I can't open the door anymore). There are many
of them crawling around on my deck furniture and on the deck itself.
What kind of bug is this? Any help would be appreciated.

Hi,
Sounds like Boxelder Bugs to me. If they are, these pages will get you
started:
There's a decent photo here:
