I'm looking for suppliers and prices for a soil moisture probe which will
sample soil moisture non-destructively in field/garden experiments. I'd
like to repeatedly sample plots for several seasons. Having a permanent
buried probe/block etc. for each plot isn't feasible. I've considered a
neutron probe... but this is a little pricy! I'm very interested in
feedback from anyone who has worked with these probes in the field and
have suggestions on protocols and/or suppliers. Thanks in advance,

Duane Peltzer

Try Campbell Scientific in Logan UT. They have TDR (time-domain
reflectometry) equipment just suited for the purpose. Also a bit pricey,
but you don't need a radioactive materials license to use it.

I designed my own TDR probes and system around a Tektronix 1502C TDR meter
for my PhD work; the probes ended up costing me about $5 each.
