0165 This position is based on 10 observations with the Carlsberg Auto-
0170 matic Meridion Circle on La Palma by C. Fabricius and M. Vallejo.
0175 The corresponding position for equinox B1950.0 is RA = 01h 02m 07s,
0180 Decl. = +53d 44'.6.

0200 Spectrograms by O. Ohshima et al. (Bisei Astronomical Observatory,
0205 Okayama, Japan), T. Iijima and L. Rosino (Asiago Astrophysical Obser-

0215 W. Marchiotto and G. Lercher (University of Innsbruck, Austria) con-
0220 firm that this object is a classical nova. The spectra showed a blue
0225 continuum and narrow emission lines from H I (H-alpha, H-beta) and
0230 Fe II with P-Cygni-type absorption profiles. The widths of the H I
0235 lines indicated expansion velocities of up to 800 km/s [IAUC 6215].

3310 index B-V (when known) for stars that are located within 100 arc-
3320 minutes from the nova (Dist < 100'). Photometric data were obtained
3330 from the following catalogues: Hipparcos Input Catalogue [ref. HIC],
3340 Mean UBV Catalogue [MUBV]; Carlsberg Meridian Catalogue, Vols. 4-8
3350 [CMC]. Magnitudes from MUBV and HIC should be accurate to within
3360 0.01-0.03 mag., while the accuracy from CMC is around 0.05 mag.
3370 Positions and spectral types were taken from tHIC, CMC and PPM Star
3380 Catalogue. Star numbers are from SAO Star Catalog [SAO] and Henry
3390 Draper Catalogue [HD]. Identifications are from the AAVSO (b) scale
3400 chart for Nova Cas 1995 (ver. 1995 Aug 28, numbers) and The Astro-
3410 nomer Electronic Circular No. 991 (letters).
