OBSERVER'S HANDBOOK 2010 IS AVAILABLE!

Good news for all you astronomers out there! The 2010 Observer's
Handbook from the RASC is now available.
Now for the better news.
NYSkies continues its tradition of supporting home astronomy by
offering the Observer's handbook at a steep discount, even if you
can't get the numbers within friends or club to earn that discount.
We
can do this for you because in the New York region there are so many
astronomers that need the OH that we easily build up to the discount
minimum.
This means that you, either alone or in a group like a club, can
get the SAME LOW PRICE as a large group. Yes, even if you ask for
only
ONE copy, that copy is yours for the discounted price. That's because
we count YOU in our accumulation of requests.
The damage this year is STILL ONLY $20 (twenty dollars). This
INCLUDES pack & post to you. There are NO extra annoying fees to
surprise you later.
Please understand that, with this forum being red thruout the
world, that the NYSkies OH offer is valid ONLY within the United
States and payment is in US dollars from a US bank. Overseas requests
must be returned unfilled (with your payment intact, of course).
If you're the astronomy club (in the US, remember that) who faces
the prospect of losing the OH benefit because you may fall short of
the discount minimum, please consider KEEPING THAT FEATURE but then
acquiring the books from NYSkies. The bonanza for your club is that
you DON'T NEED A MINIMUM number of requests. If only three members
ask
for the book, you send in the combined request for, uh, 3 books and
you get those 3 books. period.
You avoid the annoying harrassing of members to please, please,
sign up to build up to qualify for the discount, irritating reminders
about a deadline to sign up. When you have in hand a bunch of
requests, send them to us. If more come later, send us them, too.
There is no deadline for this offer, except, of course, that the
later you wait, the less likely there are copies left for you. The OH
sells out pretty quickly, altho this year we put in for a larger
supply than last year. Last year the final copy went to a good
astronomer's home on 12 December 2008. A couple requests after that
had to be sent back with regrets. Oh, man!, those astronomers ralphed
out their lunch! It really is sickening to get from NYSkies, not a
package with your books, but an envelope with a thin 'Sorry' letter
and your payment check nailed to it.
The physical books are going to print in October and will be
delivered to us and other clients in late October. You'll have your
OH
by end October, early November. To let you sleep easier (or stay up
for observing easier) NYSkies holds your payment UNTIL we send you
the
OH. No stupid tricks come up in your bank report.
By sending in your request now, we can prepare your mailing
envelope. Soonest the books arrive on our stoop from RASC, you are in
the first batch to be sent out.
