but a promising new technology suggests that, someday, the answer
might be "yes."

Why do I not see any of these alleged photographs at the indicated
link?

I would like to see the icy terrain of Saturn's enigmatically active
moon as if I was just 12 miles above it.

Did the comment you reference appear in a Sky & Telescope's Weekly Bulletin?

Last Weekly Bulletin I see posted to sci.astro.amateur and sci.astro was on Sept. 19 -
have they been discontinued?

Thanks in advance.

Doug

Same here, and I did a full header download back to that date
yesterday (Giga archives text groups back to the beginning of time)
and still no Weekly Bulletins since 9/19/08

They are showing up at my NSP. Are you sure you didn't filter them out by mistake?

Yes,

One was indeed posted by "SJG" with the following header:

"Sky & Telescope's Weekly Bulletin - November 7, 2008"

Contents were "Amazing Close-ups of Enceladus", "Telescope Mirrors
from Antifreeze?", "George Ellery Hale's Journey to Palomar", "Not
Quite the Eve of Destruction", and "View Vesta at Its Brightest".

(I don't know about previous weeks)

Have not changed filters for many months - filtering on three authors that routinely post
garbage.

The Weekly Bulletins were posting regularly until after Sep. 19.

Also downloaded all headers for the sci.astro group - no postings after Sep. 19.

Could this be news service related?

Regards,

Doug

I'm sure it is. Your provider might be tagging them as spam and deleting. This
could be because they are being posted from Google, the largest source of spam
on the planet. Have 9/27, 10/3, 10/10, 10/17, 10/21 and 11/7 on my feed.

Contacted Giganews Customer Support regarding the lack of postings - following is their
reply:

It appears that the Messages do exist on our servers, they are just not visible
through a Newsreader as there is a article reference missing.

I have updated our engineering team to this issue and hope that we will be able to
resolve this issue prior to the next posting next week. We won't be able to modify the
existing articles on our servers, but I believe that we should be able to resolve this
issue prior to the next posting by this user.

If you so not see next week's posting, please let me know.

Hopefully this week's post will show up.

Regards,

Doug
