Hello there!

I was wondering if anyone could recommend a few good Web sites with
instructions on how to alter a colour 320x240 QuickCam 320x240 for
astrophotography? All of the sites I've found are either dead links or are
old sites that dealt specifically with the b/w QuickCams.

I don't want to start taking my colour QuickCam apart until I'm *sure* what
I'm getting into.
I bought the Cam months ago (just for the hell of it actually) and it's just
been sitting on my desk gathering dust... I want to put it to some good
use.

Thanks!

Cheers from Canada!

There is some good information at

http://www.astrabio.demon.co.uk/QCUIAG/

Look under
QCUIAG RESEARCH and Downloads

for ideas on using Quick Cam ' s on a telescope
A simple lathe-turned plastic case for remounting a QuickCam and
a mount made of plumbing parts
A Non-invasive QuickCam telescope mount

For the Color Quick Cam you can get good results just using the
original software.

At my website: http://members.tripod.com/rjemtd/new_page_7.htm You can see
what I did to convert a Vesta Pro into an astro ccd (along with some
samples). You can do the same thing for any other camera.

Good Luck,
Russ

The QCUIAG site has lots of valuable information. The QCUIAG Yahoo
Group is very good as well (you can link to it from teh site mentioned
below or go directly to: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/QCUIAG

I picked up a Quickcam VC, which is a color camera, for $10 on eBay a
month ago and my first shots were pretty credible
(http://heffernan.cais.net/astrophotos.html) I am waiting for some
good weather when I am at my weekend house (where I moved my
telescope) to try some more.

Don,
I just looked at your neat QuickCam photos at your web page, but a
question...where does one find out about "Astrostack", the softwear
you used? I just bought a QuickCam VC and am trying to get enought
info together to start this project. Thanks
David
