The edits and deletions always protect the scammers and allow scams to
continue.
The question of why Cloudy Nights actively protects scammers remains
to be unanswered...any requests for an answer are deleted and the
members asking the questions are banned from the site.
All discussions and questions have been asked under the guidelines of
the CN TOS.
And FWIW...I am not one of those who have posted on this subject...but
I am one of several members who was alerted to and have been watching
this very strange behavior by the mods.
Any thoughts on this?

Instead 'ole Tom' went to Washington and lobbying for 'more regulated

How about Wellmark Blue Cross & Blue Shield also of Des Moines Iowa?
Rates in Iowa go up 18% this year, in Ca 39%, and in Illinois some

Chicago are being raised 80%, all according to NPR.
How about light pollution and Iowa City's new ordinance "mandating" hi

sodium lighting for all crime areas .... and redefining all areas of Iowa
as "crime
areas" ? Lighting industry lobbied hard for that one!
Guess we wont name anything on Cloudy Nights or on Clear Days either.
Screw Cloudy Nights!
First you would have to prove that they are protecting scammers. Only
then can you ask why they might be.

URL to see some of these would-be scammers?

Yes. Why do you ask here, where no one could do better than to guess at
the answer (if there is one)? Why don't you ask the Cloudy Nights
moderator(s)?

The signal to noise ratio is a lot lower at Cloudy Nights than it is
here. Perhaps banning isn't such a bad idea.
The simple fact that Too_Many_Trolls has been alerted and is watching
will certainly make us all feel secure.
No doubt T_M_T and his comrades have memorized the Cloudy Nights Terms
of Service. I'm posting the URL here for others to view.
Should you ever take a respite from your vigilance T, take a look at
this site. You might find it helpful.

Out of curiosity, what were the scammers doing? Were they attempting
to fluoridate one of the forums?

I doubt it. Says at the top of the page "This article has multiple
issues."
No s**t? It was written by an uneducated and semi-literate person who
has a deficit in coherent thinking--and who doesn't know what a rant
is. It is probably the most pathetic, nonsensical page on Wikipedia.
"Speaker's Corner in Hyde Park is a famous public space in which rants
are legitimately allowed [sic]."
No s**t? The writer might also have mentioned nearly all public places
in Australia, Canada, the EU, India, Japan, New Zealand, The United
States and its territories and possessions, and numerous other
countries and territories.
"The prohibition of rants has a long history in Europe." Huh? _Had_ a
long history in some places.
Davoud
This post is not a rant.
Already been done.
Reread my initial post.

Try asking CN yourself why they deleted the proof when posted.
CN was asked...and they deleted the question and what responses that
were posted.
Go ahead and try it yourself...post the subject on CN and see what
happens.
At this point from what I was shown by others and have seen
personally, I would not trust CN's webmaster or any of its mods.
TMT
Why don't you go find out for yourself?
And be sure to go buy something off their "For Sale" forum...so your
own money is at risk.
Then report back here to us with your own scam story.
But the report you log on CN will disappear with the webmaster and
mods lying about taking it off.
TMT
TMT
You sound like one of the mods.
TMT
The CLAIMS you make do not constitute PROOF.
There is a link near the top of the classifieds that briefly describes
some possible scams. If you are SELLING an item, the BUYER should be
sending YOU money, you shouldn't have to send them any money! Does
that help you at all?
You can easily find the proof if you monitor CN for a period of
time...just like a number of us have.
I did and have seen what I have mentioned happen repeatily with the
mods/webmaster busy editing and deleting other member's comments to
hide the scamming activity that is happening.
And whining to me will not get me to do your homework...you can find
the proof if you look for it.
Unless of course you are one of the mods...then you obviously will
tell us that you can't find anything.

That isn't my duty. Your duty is now to present evidence to back up
your accusations.
You apparently have problems with reading comprehension.
I have already clearly stated the problem and told you how to gather
the supporting data.
It is not my problem that you are unable to follow simple directions.
TMT
You have been told to provide proof of your accusations. Do so now.
LOL...again it seems that your reading comprehension is lacking.
Perhaps you could have your dog read my posts to you so you would
understand that I have provided the method to provide ample proof.
Meanwhile I and others have to wonder what CN is getting by allowing
scammers to ripoff unsuspecting amateurs.

I think what's really annoying you is that Cloudy Nights won't let you
have the last word.
LdB
LOL...think what you want to.
All you have to do is go wait and watch..and you will see it
happening.
But that would mean that you would have to admit that CN is doing just
what I said.
And it also sounds like you might be a mod.
TMT
What part of "provide proof of your accusations" do you not
understand?
> Perhaps you could have your dog read my posts to you so you would

Dogs can neither read nor speak. Maybe your dog is different, SoS?
> Meanwhile I and others have to wonder what CN is getting by allowing

We must conclude that if you won't give any examples of "scams" then
there really aren't any scams. Comprehend that.
LOL...well if your dog won't read or speak to you then I guess you
will just have to believe someone like me who takes pity on you.
Actually it is sad that CN is assisting the scammers preying on
unsuspecting amateurs.
On Astromart scammers are dealt in a professional manner.
I suspect that is why Astromart is where one goes when you have money
to spend/equipment to sell and CN is where all the BSers go to blow
off.

A number of us have been carefully watching Astromart for the last
few months and have noted that the moderators consciously edit and
delete various discussions that have covered various spammers and
their attempts to spam the general amateur astronomy community.
The edits and deletions always protect the spammers and allow spams to
continue.
The question of why Astromart actively protects spammers like
Too_Many_Tools remains to be unanswered...any requests for an answer
are deleted and the
members asking the questions are banned from the site.
I am one of several members who was alerted to and have been watching
LOL...yet another mod from CN?
Got a problem with being outed on Usenet where you cannot delete the
truth?
Laugh..laugh...laugh
So why are you protecting scammers who are ripping off amateurs?
I and others are waiting for your excuses.
TMT
TMT will probably claim that he was told to troll USENET by an evil
spirit who appeared to him in the form of a "rotwhiler."
No..TMT will quietly and calmly restate that CN is actively protecting
scammers to alert unsuspecting amateurs from being ripped off.
Anyone who monitors CN for any length of time will see mods are
actively preventing discussion about scams that are occurring daily on
there S&S line...and then lying about their actions when conforted
with the evidence.
As for the "rotwhiler", please keep your sex life to yourself.
TMT
Has nothing better to do, apparently.
> will see mods are
> actively preventing discussion about scams that are occurring daily on

The mods aren't preventing discussion about any alleged scams here.
> and then lying about their actions when conforted
> with the evidence.

> As for the "rotwhiler", please keep your sex life to yourself.
TMT, you are the one obsessed with dogs. You even think they read,
speak, and who knows what else.
> TMT, you are the one obsessed with dogs. You even think they read,

Currency conversion?
LOL...I also suspect mind control.
I see all these dog owners picking up their dog's poop.
God help us if the dogs discover CN...they will make a fortune selling
dog poop on S&S.
TMT
So you are saying that dogs are running CN?
Hmm...considering what I have seen some of the mods do I can believe
that.
TMT
LOL...there is yet another scam running on CN right now.
Let's see if the mods will kill it or protect it.
TMT
Wish I could.
Through a friend, I am aware of at least two mods are following this
Usenet discussion.
If I post a direct link, the mods will delete the scam to cover their
tracks.
TMT
And about someone having enough tools...I agree with you.
People call me Too_Many_Tools because THEY think I have too many
tools.
I on the other hand think I need more tools.
At the local astronomy club, I am known as Too_Many_Telescopes...for
the same reason. ;<)
TMT
You'll just have to take that chance.
LOL..or you will just have to find it on your own.
You really seem to be allergic to work.
Did your dog do your homework for you too?
Hmmm...which CN mod are you?
TMT
ROTFLMAO! You have given no proof whatsoever to support your
accusations. No one is going to go to the trouble of looking for
something that isn't even there.
In your case they are probably right.
> I on the other hand think I need more tools.
>
> At the local astronomy club, I am known as Too_Many_Telescopes...for
> the same reason. ;<)
We had a member in our club that spent all of his time seeking and
talking about the "perfect" telescope. He didn't seem to get much
observing done for some reason.
You know, most of the tools and telescopes that you own are bad for
the environment. You should try to get by with fewer of each.
LOL..and yet another scammer is working the sheeple on CN as I type
this.
The mods were alerted by posters who are now having their posts
removed.
Typical mod behavior to protect the scammers.
