I have a chance to purchase some astronomy products off of him, but
haven't seen him here. Anyone dealt with him before?

Thanks,

-- Gene Lewis

Hi Gene, I recall seeing a recent post on Astromart forum about this
person. The poster had purchased some equipment and there were problems
getting responses from him. I tried looking up the post but it had been
removed so I guess it was resolved!? Maybe you can put a post up there
and find out "the rest of the story" Hope this helps.

Best regards,
Bill

I bought a used 10" Thousand Oaks Type 2+ solar filter from an Eric
Barkmeyer in Page, AZ (post office box) in July from an Astromart ad.
The item was as advertised and the transaction was satisfactory. You'll
have to check with him that he's the same person but it does seem
likely.

I tried buying an advertised 15mm Panoptic from Eric. After my fifth e-mail
and 2 weeks he told me that he never received the check. Fortunately, it was a
postal money order so I simply reported it stolen. It is possible that he
didn't receive it, but it bothered me that I had sent him an e-mail indicating
I had sent the MO priority mail and if he didn't see it in a few days to let me
know.
Perhaps he was just busy and didn't have a chance to check his PO Box. This PO
Box was in Telluride, CO though unlike the other poster who indicated Page, AZ.

Be more then careful when dealing with this person.
He asks way to much for shipping, if you say something
about it he well lower the fee then.
Please don't buy a scope from him. Bad news.
Best thing you can do is stay away from him.
He's one of only two I well not deal with again.

I did and was worried for quite a while. He had my $ and I had squat.
Finally got the item in garbage-can condition. He is off my list
forever.

Gene, My name is Rick Riley and my son sold Mr. Barkmeyer a 10" Celestron telescope and he has not paid for it. He took delivery through Craigs List but has not paid. I am pursuing legal options at this time since he has not replied to emails, letters and now I am sending a certified mail copy of the demand. Do Not do business with this guy!!!!!!

@rick

This guy stole a $1400 telescope from me a couple years ago and I have all the records / phone calls etc. proving it. Let me know if you need any backup evidence. This guy is a thief. The Norwood sheriff was too busy to do anything about it.

I should also mention that my telescope was listed on Ebay shortly after he stole it, so he flips them for cash. I would LOVE to see this guy locked up.

Eric Barkemeyer upsold me on telescope and accessories - nearly $2000 later I received (like a poster stated above) dumpster ready mount with broken/wrong accessories.

I first contacted Eric Barkemeyer through an item posted on eBay; however he convinced me to purchase an even better telescope. One thing led to another and the deal ended up outside of eBay. He got me to agree to purchase a laser site as well as a 2 inch diagonal and eyepiece (instead of 1.25 inch). So I ended up paying more for those items. When I received the box, I noticed that this very large and heavy telescope was packed in a very flimsy box. The first thing I noticed was that one of the forks on the fork mount was completely cracked through...a clean slice all the way through. There's no way of knowing if that was already shipped in that condition, or if it was damaged during shipping. Either way, a properly packed telescope would not have suffered this severe breakage.

Then I noticed that the laser site prism was missing and the laser didn't even turn on. The final thing I noticed was that the proper diagonal and eyepiece were not shipped. So basically I was upsold and received garbage in return. This entire telescope is in dumpster condition. BECAUSE OF ALL THESE ISSUES, I BELIEVE HE SENT ME A BROKEN MOUNT PURPOSEFULLY. At first the seller was communicating with me. He helped me through the process of getting the information for the USPS insurance claim. But he never shipped out the original finder scope or the 2 inch diagonal and eyepiece he promised to send. Further emails went unanswered and he seems reluctant to do anything to make this deal somewhat tolerable. I gave him one last chance to deliver on his promise to send out the broken/missing items and one week later I have nothing. Had he sent me those items I would've never left a ripoff report...he left me no choice. DO NOT BUY FROM THIS GUY...RUN FAST IN THE OPPOSITE DIRECTION.

Until I read this chain of posts, I was watching a posting he has for a Meade LX200 10" scope. How does this guy rate 100% positive reviews that I see on eBay? Did any of you with negative experiences post reviews? I also notice that if wanting to ask questions, there is no contact avenue to this seller (even though he says in his ad to contact him by email (not supplied).

Oh hi Eric! Go fuck yourself. I won't forget that you stole from me. You have zero integrity and there are reports of you scamming people for two decades. I hope it's worth it you dog. You told me that you were buying my telescope for your son so I gave you a break on the price and you never paid me a cent. If you Google your name the first thing that comes up is a RipOff Report. You are a pile of garbage.
