Mexica Animal Sacrifices
INAH has identified 400 animal species in 60 offerings made by the Mexica at the site of Tenochtitlan. Atlantic ocean fish,, crocodiles, snakes, turtles, toucans, wolves, pumas, and jaguars are among the species they sacrificed. They liked to sacrifice exotic species and spiny hide species. They sacrificed these animals to the deities Tlaloc and Huitzilopochtli.
