This is a tour people might find interesting since it isn't often one
can visit a famous archaeological site and tour it with its excavator.

Exploring a Commonwealth Treasure:
An Insiders Tour of the Meadowcroft Rockshelter

Saturday, July 29
Saturday, August 26
10:00 AM - 12:00 PM (noon)

Get a rare glimpse inside the Meadowcroft Rockshelter, Pennsylvania's
1999 Commonwealth Treasure. This world-renowned archaeological site
is the oldest and longest continually used human site in North America,
with evidence dating back 16,000 years. This tour, led by noted archaeologist
James M. Adovasio, Ph.D., will allow participants to see the excavation that
has given scientists a fascinating look into the lives of Pennsylvania's
prehistoric people. $15.00 per person. Space is limited and preregistration
is required. Call (724) 587-3412 to make reservations.

[Meadowcroft Rockshelter is located southwest of Pittsburgh and just west
of a little town named Avella in southwestern Pennsylvania. It is about 1
mile from the West Virginia panhandle border.]
