Very early Maya ruler uncovered

There has been a major tomb find at the site of Tak'alik Ab'aj in
Guatemala. The tomb of a very early Maya ruler has been found complete
with jade offerings. The tomb dates from 700-400 BCE. The ruler was
wearing a vulture headed human figure to identify him as a ruler. The
bones of the ruler have decayed. This site is early enough so that Olmec
influences exist there.
