A giant statue of Xipe Totec, the god of the flayed skin, has been
uncovered at Tula along with 4 human burials and 2 offerings. This is
the first representation of Xipe Totec ever found in a Toltec setting
and it is dated at 900-1150 CE. The statue is almost complete but part
of the face is fractured and one arm unattached. It was uncovered at
the foot of a staircase. The four adults were resting in a fetal
position facing east.
