Can anyone tell me what I need to start a marine aquarium. I have some
experience with fresh water. What are the equipment needed? Any good
references for beginners? Thank you.

It's best to read teh FAQ on this NG here and at the FINS sight...

Also Al Thiel has an online book at:
http://www.netpets.com/fish/reference/thielbook/thieltoc.html

And if you want to pay cash, you can get any book by Martin Moe or
Delbek and Sprung.

For fish Martin Moe's "Beginning to Breeder" and a book by Carol Bower (the
title escapes me at the moment) are both good, relatively inexpensive books
for the beginner.

For reef aquariums John Tullock has a new book out that's supposed to be
very good which is title something like "The Natural Aquarium". "The Captive
Reef" by Dana Riddle is OK.

The Delbeek and Sprungs books are for reef aquariums and although expensive
are excellent. The same goes for "The Modern Coral Reef Aquarium" by Nilsen
and Fossa.
