I was wondering if ethnological studies are still being conducted and,
if so, what groups are the the targets of these inquiries. I was
thinking that many groups had already been written up. With this in mind
are longitudinal, followup/comparative studies being conducted on old
favorites such as Turnbull's Forest People?
Are subgroups such as gangs, guerilla organizations, professions
(computer programmers, athletes, etc.) considered legitimate/studied?
Any resources online which discuss this type of thing?
I have some other questions along these lines, but would like to see
what others have to say about some of this stuff.
TIA,
tom dorgan.

Two studies I am aware of concern themselves with the movement from
agricultural production to manufacturing in the Basque region and, a study
of lap dancers and heroin. A study that was recently proposed was to
follow methadone patients who have been forced off of programs by budget
cuts to determine if they have moved to areas where methadone is still
available, returned to heroin use or whatever? Ethnography is what you
make of it.
Of course there have been several ethnological studies. The problem is
that many are out of date.
