So the fact that Neanderthals were the ancestors
of modern people outside of Africa really was
known for a very long time. I've even recommended
a 1973 BBC broadcast that mentioned it, saying
that it was the middle eastern population in
particular (which makes a whole heck of a lot of
sense). But, "Paleoanthropology" is not a real
science, and politics is and always was vastly
more important than science...

Okay, so now the latest conspiracy theory:

Australopithecus naledi

The finds weren't even dry yet before politicians
began denouncing the socio-political ramification.
Specifically, African politicians afraid that
Africans would be painted as racially inferior,
because of "Homo" naledi:

https://www.abc.net.au/news/2015-09-17/new-human-sparks-racism-row-in-south-africa/6783844

So where's the conspiracy theory?

DNA!

No, the environment doesn't exclude DNA. They claim
to have recovered DNA is similar climates, in caves
with much more water. And the age isn't a huge issue
either. They've recovered DNA from much older
specimens. And they even claim to have recovered DNA
from soil where the remains have decomposed entirely!

...granted they have to know what the DNA looks
like. I mean, they find DNA, but to identify it as
human or a human ancestor they need to know what that
human/ancestor DNA looks like in order to match it to
the goop that they find...

Also: Naledi presents us with an almost unprecedented
number of remains! We're talking at least 1,550
"Specimens" representing 15 individuals! This is HUGE!

So where's the DNA?

The age isn't a problem, the climate isn't a problem
and they have an unprecedented number of specimens
to pick through....

Where's the DNA?

Nobody thought of it? Labs weren't interested? Hmm?

Oh. Keep in mind: All the big "Headlines" followed
the discovery by some years. The remains were discovered
in 2013, the controversy began, when? 2015? and the
dating work was released in 2017.

So there you go; another paleoanthropology conspiracy
theory concerning a fake "Science" which has already
earned itself some conspiracy theories.

They say that in Africa DNA decays quickly:

This is why reading comprehension is so important...

No, honey, they say that DNA decays quickly in a "Warmer
tropical climate." But naledi was shielded from this
warmer tropical climate inside of a cave.

Yes, it is cooler inside the cave...

Which brings us full circle:

DNA has been retrieved from older samples, DNA has
been retrieved from much fewer samples (way, Way,
*Way* fewer samples), DNA has been retrieved from
similar environments -- even WORSE environments! So,
where's the DNA?

Gee, you must be an English man/woman/whatever.
As much as I adore England, their culture, and everything (even the
cuisine), I would have problems to adapt to this, :) .
Lol, this reminds me on when I was serving Yugoslav army in Monte
Negro, when I was young. They address each other like "you pity one".
Something like "you baastaRd" in "Scottish".
