I'm much thinking about CCD and about bees' situation under hard
commercial conditions, esp. their pollination trips around a whole
continent with its endless fruit and vegetable cultures

when bees are leaving their hives without sign of remaining, couldn't it
be that they are simply looking for water, which they cannot find in
those monotone immense areas, they only have a flight diameter of max. 6 km

as an example a hive of 40.000 bees needs 40 grams water a day, in
addition for brood there is a need of 140 g/d for 6000 cells (1 g = 0.5
dram)

for those 180 g water bees need 18000 flights, one worker bee is able
for about 50 flights a day, will say 360 workers are busy one day for
this task

what about the situation ref. CCD at private hobby beekeepers?

cheers kauhl
