Miriam Schulman's compositions may catch you by surprise. Skillful use of color in her watercolor creations is evident from afar, but at closer inspection you find textured collage materials pushing the boundaries of her images. Schulman's most recent series includes sheet music as a collage medium on canvas with watercolors. Notes from the music give a playful energy to her trees, flowers and birds. In a floral scene, sheet music notes may appear as bugs buzzing over colorful flowers. Likewise, in a forest landscape musical notes provide the knolls on birch tree bark. Schulman's collection of sheet music collage paintings delight art and music lovers alike.
