I am a High School Math Teacher and have seen first hand the change in
students that uniforms can make. Our school went to uniforms last
year(over much community worry and turmoil) and I feel that it has been
a huge success. The students tend to act the same as they look -- if
they look like their favorite Rap Star, they tend to talk and act like
him. If you have them dressed in a neat shirt tucked into a nice
fitting pair of slacks, their whole demeanor changes.

For the girls, it is no longer necessary for each to "out dress" the
other. Brands are not important in uniforms. There is still enough
room for individuality in makeup, hairstyle, accessories and shoes.

Interestingly, Dr Brunsma did some longer-term research into this and
found that uniforms did NOT significantly improve student behavior.
Perhaps looks are deceptive?
