Hi brass friends,
I've been feeling pretty weird without joyous brass street music, and the friends who I usually make it with, these last weeks. So I was really glad to hear from my friend Onno van Swigchem who's starting a new online project that might help.
It's called "We'll Be Back
" and yes, I am in the promo video :D :D. (Scroll down on the webpage for English.)
Onno, who leads the street-orchestra Fanfare van de Eerste Liefdesnacht in Amsterdam, is composing and arranging a new street-orchestra "coronasuite" for this weird time. And he needs folks to support him. For a €20 donation (about $22), you can support his project and get sheet music and a set of play-along mp3s. For €50 you get all five pieces he's writing. (If you can't afford it, you can still take part, just shoot him an email.) There are only seven days left, we're halfway to the goal, and the money gets refunded if we don't hit it!
I know Onno's music well and am excited to be a part of this. Check out the video
, and you'll hear a few of his arrangements/compositions at the end.
The vision is pretty sweet: everyone learns these pieces apart, gets coaching in online zoom classes (if you want!), and we can perform together! He's making mp3s for each part -- and this is really smart -- also extra mp3s with all-other-parts-except-yours, and with all-parts-and-yours-is-extra-loud.
Yours in musical mischief,
PS Even if this isn't what you need right now, maybe pass it on to others who might? Many thanks!
