Hey folks,
Is anyone going to this event, below?   If not, I may try to stop in for a bit.

The county is sponsoring a Care for Creation event the same afternoon from 11 to 3:00.  I don't have a lot of details, but will attend with my church (Highlands Presbyterian) and I know that other local churches will be there also.   This relates to another segment of institutional gardening that may be of interest to the school gardening group.   Let me know if you need more info and I will forward.

There will be a Gardening for Grades workshop April 16th from 8:30-12:30 at the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services Division of Plant Industry, Auditorium (1911 SW 34th St, Gainesville 32608). Stipends will not be provided but participants will receive a Gardening for Grades curriculum book.  If you are an Alachua County Public School (including charter) you can register on My Learning Plan as of next Monday.  If you with any other school you will need register directly with the group at this link:  http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/DPNPNTW. Please email Jessica Mead (mea...@gm.sbac.edu) with any question questions.

Who May Apply: Schools and youth groups submit chronicles of their garden projects. The award is designed to support the continued sustainability of an exceptional youth garden program that has demonstrated success, and has impacted the lives of kids and their community.
Amount: $5,000
Deadline: September 30, 2011

I will be attending on behalf of FOG and our school garden committee--
I think that perhaps some of the teachers in the committee are
planning to attend as well... I'll be sending out an update/summary
notes to the group as well!
