Looking for some great online teacher resources? Gamma Tau Associates provides online resources directly to teachers. Accessible online, in searchable and dynamically managed databases, GTA's pages are designed for teachers who would like to have a reliable source of curriculum-specific, classroom-ready materials. What makes these classroom materials different from others I've seen online, is that they are curriculum-linked, searchable by keyword or outcome and continually updated. It's like having blackline masters that are always being updated. Visit the site, download the free materials; evaluate them in your classroom and share them with your colleagues. Then if you feel the products meet your needs, you can order them online in a secure environment and receive instant access. Resources include:
  • MathPAC, (Grades 1 through 8): More than 2000 pages of math worksheets and activities designed to develop fluency in fundamental math skills. Suggested uses for these materials include review, pre-testing, practice, remedial work, supplementing or complementing classroom math activities, testing or diagnostic tools or they may simply be selected by students to improve fluency and provide intellectual challenges. Free samples covering grades 1 to 8 include: Counting and Addition, Multiplication, Addition, Division, Fractions and Decimals, Simple Equations and more!
  • Scroungeable Science, (Grades 1 through 8): a unique Internet-based resource package containing over one hundred modules of science lessonware. Also included are 350 transparency masters, as well as complete follow-up questions and discussion activities. Activities and experiments included in the Scroungeable Science module can be developed and demonstrated using everyday inexpensive items "scrounged" from home and school. Sample experiments include Midday Shadows, Energy Awareness, The Maze (Phototropism), Fun with Sound, Monitoring the Atmosphere, Building a Water Alarm, Build a Biosphere, and Light as a Transverse Wave.
  • The Internet Classroom, (K-12): More than 700 hand-selected and teacher-rated K-12 educational web-sites. Dynamically managed, the sites are checked daily for speed and accessibility. No more broken links! See the free sample, Ancient History
  • EUREKA!, (Secondary): A 3 CD-ROM set containing all 30 programs of TVOntario's world famous animated science video series. A "classroom-ready" resource fully documented with Notes for Teachers and Notes for Students. Take a look at the first video online!
  • United States National Science Education Standards (K-12): Thousands of resources presented in a unique K-12 searchable database, each linked specifically to the curriculum defined by the US Dept. of Education's and the National Research Council's 1998 document; National Science Education Standards
  • Internet Curriculum Data Engine, (K-8): fully developed, outcome-based curriculum for Math, Science, Language, Arts, Health, History, Geography, and Social Studies. Contained in a keyword-searchable database, each resource is linked directly to expectations of the Ontario Curriculum.
