Good morning friends,

I try to do a pen pal seed share exchange with different classrooms in my district each year. Some of you have participated in the past. This involves elementary classrooms writing letters about their school garden and including some seeds (some commercial, some saved from their garden) and sending it off to a school outside the district. I have a classroom exchanging seeds this year with a school in NYC, but would love to be able to get some more classrooms with pen pals - we have quite a few seeds to share after a big donation of them.

This is a great ELA activity, research opportunity, you can incorporate climate, cultivation, history, all kinds of fun stuff. This is not about getting bogged down in equal seed exchange by grams etc - this is about connecting kids to each other and connecting them more deeply to their school gardens.

If you think you have a school/classroom that would be willing to participate, let me know!

Sincerely,

Rebekka Henriksen
