Hi Everyone,
Does anyone have ADA approved garden bed plans ( including materials list) to share?  We are assisting with a school garden build and would like to see if anyone can help with some good plans.
Thanks in advance for any help you can provide.

Doug

I do have an ADA System called the VEGS System. It is a sit down system that is ADA complaint. A person just wheels up in wheelchair and sits and gardens.www.sustainablesales.net

I've also been researching wheel-chair accessible, ADA-compliant beds for the renovation of a community garden I'm helping with. It's been challenging to find designs that are forward facing (so that gardeners don't have to twist in order to garden), and also have enough space built-in to the bed for soil and roots. One design that we might go with is from Gardens for Humanity. The linked website shows pictures of the beds, and they offer a PDF of the planter design and construction design with a suggested donation of $25.

I'm excited to learn about other accessible designs!

Some school gardens in my district have adopted old salad bars from our Food Services warehouse. They are high enough for ADA-compliant beds. So I suggest reaching out to your Food Services!

Side note – if anyone in SD County is looking we do have some in storage right now looking for a new home.

SGN community partner, Avalow, makes garden beds that are in several ADA approved schools.  Their beds allow accessibility for all mobility needs, as they are 27" tall and can be placed on any ada compliant hard surface.  Avalaow provides discounted garden beds for schools and nonprofits. If you're interested in learning more, contact Amanda at ama...@avalow.com.

My apologies if this has posted more than once, but...  We have built some accessible beds for some of our network gardens. It is the same trough style design as the TRUG. The feedback we have received from wheelchair users has been positive. We have been meaning to put together a little instructructional on it, and if others are interested, it may speed up the process. I believe we built seven of them for $1000. They are 8' L x 32" W x 32" H.
