Dear School Gardeners,

As I’m sure you know, partnerships between school gardens and their communities (the school community, community gardens, and the community-at-large) are critically important to sustain school gardens, but are underdeveloped.

We are reaching out to solicit your participation to share your ideas about how schools can better connect with communities. To participate requires 1-2 hours of your time. First, please click here to access a brief (5 minute) survey about your school’s garden. When you complete the survey, you will be provided instructions with how to complete the 4 activities for this study.

They include:

  1. Reviewing and sorting ideas generated by school garden experts, about how to better connect your school garden with the community.
  2. Rating each idea generated based on feasibility, importance, and the effort required to do it.

The ideas are simple – they’re about 5-10 words each so the activity moves quickly. Upon completion of all of these activities, your name will be entered into a raffle to win one of 5 $50 gift cards. We do not believe there is any negative outcome or risks to participating in this study.

Please share the survey link or forward this email with your school garden networks! We are hoping to get feedback from as many school gardeners as we can. Thank you for considering participating. If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to me at Katheri...@lehman.cuny.edu.

Sincerely,

Kate Burt, PhD, RDN
