Hello SGSO Network,

I've appreciated being a part of this network as I support a variety of school food and garden programs in the Vancouver Area in Canada. I thought some of you may be interested in the upcoming Farm to School BC Conference (especially those on the West Coast!), taking play May 17-19th in Vancouver, BC, CA.

I've included a few ways to be involved in the conference below, including submitting a presentation proposal or poster, partnership, and our early bird registration. I have also attached the promo toolkit - if you can't make it but want us to help get the word out, sharing about the conference would be much appreciated. While this conference will be focused on the context in British Columbia, it will be an amazing opportunity to learn from those in the field and connect on our shared passions!

If you have any questions or want to discuss this in more detail, please don't hesitate to reach out!

Farm to School BC Conference: Early Bird Registration

Deadline March 15th

Our 2023 conference, Planting the Seed: Harvesting connections, ideas, and community is happening May 18th & 19th at the UBC Nest in Vancouver. Our conference aims to celebrate the impact of both budding and established school food initiatives and programs, welcome diverse perspectives to share their experiences and knowledge, and generate within our community a revitalized sense of connectedness and empowerment.

We anticipate up to 300 attendees from backgrounds spanning education, health, agriculture, culinary arts, policy, research, Indigenous affairs, and youth sectors. Conference themes include school farms, meal programs, Indigenous foodways, capacity building, celebrating culture with food, community connections, youth leadership and training, and more. Register now to avoid missing out on our early bird prices, ending March 15th!

As a reminder, our call for proposals ends February 22nd (next week)! Successful applicants will have access to our reduced presenter registration rate for the conference. More information on guidelines and submissions can be found by visiting our conference website.

If you have any questions about the conference, please reach out to Emily Faris at events.co...@farmtoschoolbc.ca

Extended Call for Proposals: February 22nd

After receiving feedback from members of our community and partner organizations, we decided to extend the deadline for the Call for Proposals for the Farm to School BC conference. We understand that some of you may have felt pressure to meet the original deadline, so we're giving you more time to refine your submissions until Wednesday, February 22nd at 11:59 pm PST.

Our goal is to highlight as many diverse food literacy initiatives as possible at the upcoming F2SBC Conference. So we encourage you to create a poster with your students, share your research findings, give a presentation on best practices, or relay your personal stories. We hope this extension will inspire even more of you to apply!
