in August 2024, IL Governor JB Pritzker signed legislation requiring Illinois public schools to educate students on climate change starting in 2026. The law ensures students learn about climate change’s environmental and community impacts, as well as solutions to reduce those effects.

To support educators, SubjectToClimate partnered with Climate Education For Illinois (CE4IL), Seven Generations Ahead (SGA)/It’s Our Future, and the Environmental Education Association of Illinois (EEAI), to launch the Illinois Climate Education Hub — a free, one-stop platform offering standards-aligned resources that integrate climate topics across all subjects and grade levels, with a strong focus on Illinois-specific issues. The Illinois Climate Education Hub will make it much more

feasible for educators to integrate climate change into existing educational standards on core subjects. Visit illinoisclimateeducation.org to explore.
