Our national documercial debut is just around the corner, presented by the National Farm to School Network during their Community Gathering on June 23. Join the Hand, Heart and Soul Project + educators and a parent from Little Ones Learning Center and others for a national screening and conversation.

Over a year ago, as the task seemed difficult, there were quiet giants who provided guidance and strength. I recall sitting in the office of a Congressman in Washington, DC, along with some food justice colleagues. We were there for policymaker education with several organizations. As I finished my commentary, one person nudged me to make a statement about our farmstand woes and I initially, declined since that was not the purpose of our visit and the work at hand was bigger than our own.

As I began to tell the Congressional staffer the abbreviated version of the Little Lions Farm Stand, he said, "Yeah, we've heard about what's going on down there in Forest Park and the farm stand; we've gotten a few calls about it." I was dead. I wasn't even calling DC about our own farm stand. I shared with him my frustrations with bureaucracy, and I felt it should be quite simple as this: we want to sell produce that we grow, #justdoit. He stated his position on the feds staying out of local affairs but believed the work we were doing was necessary. I was filled with joy.

Please join me for the National Farm to School Network's Community Gathering here or the conversation on our Little Lions Farm Stand and the need for good, slow food access here. It's a basic right for kids, for families. If Whole Foods will not come to us, we will grow whole foods in our own communities. Little Ones Learning Center is the incubator of goodness and the non-profit my mother and I founded, the Hand, Heart, and Soul Project, brings that work to scale.
