Tick management area-wide is best done through Co trolled burns in your area which renew shrubs and spaces for the other animals to live in your area which feed on ticks and by deer management. Typically those aren't welcome activities in small
spaces, but you can reach out to your State's Department of Natural Resources to learn more.
However, there are many best practices for teaching about ticks and doing tick checks to students, for informing families, and for what to do if a tick is found biting in a student's or staff person's body. Also, pro-tip, there's still a lot
of False (in my both researched and personal experience opinion) information out there about tucking pants into socks and that sort of thing. Ticks love to find dark cozy places to snuggle into so any place where things are tucked in is actually their favorite
spot, especially sick lines, underwear lines and bra lines... Just dress for the weather and do checks!
