Hi Everyone,

I just learned about the organization Earth Force, which shares resources and a step by step process to engage youth in environmental action civics. I bet these resources would be a great way to engage older students, especially middle and high schoolers in your school gardens. Work with them to propose new local policies to support your school garden programs!

If anyone has worked with Earth Force or has done something similar to engage youth in your programs on environmental action, would love to hear about it!

Best,
Tristana

I have been through their online training and I am building a PD for green team leaders to effectively engaged students in student-led decision making in a month. I will be happy to share about how it went and how teachers end up using it after the training!

Hello Tristen,

I have a friend Barbara Leutz who lives in Chicago Old Town. She is an auditor and is going to retire in a year. She wants work with under served kids in her community teaching them about food and growing. She has a degree in food science.
If you can kindly send her some school garden contacts that work with food security and growing herbs that would be great. She is interested in learning about organizations that work with food/ gardening in her neighborhood and would love to get involved.

Barbara’s email is:  Barbara...@gmail.com

Thanks a bunch
