I'm preparing to train a new teacher for running programs in the garden and would appreciate any guidance and materials anyone is willing to provide.  Are there resources you recommend using, certain training approaches or progressive responsibilities to grant?  Any and all help welcome.  Thank you!

Regards,
Lynn

On our SAn diego master gardener website we have garden lessons by NGSS curriculum. If u wish to check it out

We have many documents on teacher training.  But it’s over 100 documents in terms of what the teacher needs help with in the garden. So if u email with specifics I can send you a document that helps your needs.

All the best

Shital,

This is amazing! Thank you so much for this resource! I would love to build off of it! I have a great book and the Project Learning Tree curriculum that I was building my gardens curriculum off of! May I use some of your information and site your Master Gardeners program?? Our Master Gardeners resources are not nearly as comprehensive for the elementary school garden!! I am a Penn State Master Gardener.

Hi Lynn,

I facilitate online and in person teacher trainings for Green Our Planet. I'd be happy to meet with you to talk strategy, experiences, or share resources. Let me know if you'd like to hop on a call in the new year.

I agree, Tamara! Thank you for sharing that, Shital. It's an awesome resource!

Hi, Here are some resources from the SGSO Network's Promising Practices.

Here is a description of various types of Professional Development that School Garden Support Organizations provide

Education Outside also created great documentation on the resources they use to train educators.

Hi all,
Some great resources have already been shared but I wanted to also let you know about a free course for garden educators that I help to facilitate called Teaching in Nature's Classroom. The spring session begins on January 24 with registration opening on January 3. Here is the website with more information:
Take care,
Erica

It's great to see so many people would like to meet! Meeting passionate educators is one of my favorite things about my job :)

How about we meet sometime during the first 2 weeks of January? Is any day/time best for you all?

Thank you to everyone who has shared resources. These are all awesome!

Yes, that's a great idea to create a poll! Click here to complete a google form to help us select the best day and time for everyone.

Looking forward to connecting!

Anytime after 2:30 pm EST would be ideal if possible - I teach or have meetings until 2:15 each day.

Thanks!

Thank you everyone who sent resources and for the interest in continuing the conversation.  And thank you Monica for creating the poll to try to find a time for people to talk.  I just filled it in and hopefully others are as well.

I've got lots to read through and excited to get on a call and share ideas.  What a great group this is!!

Happy holidays!

Regards,
Lynn
