Hi Everyone, 

Save the date...register...share with your networks...tune in live...engage with the school garden community through "Growing School Gardens", a virtual school garden tour and celebration on April 27 at 10am PST. The event will include stops at school garden sites across the country from Hawaii to DC and will include a visit from US Secretary of Agriculture Tom Villsack.

Details, links and information below, including how to win prizes and support for your school garden through a number of avenues. Let me know if you have any questions.

Register, Connect and Win Prizes for School Gardens!

Join hundreds of schools on April 27 for the first-ever virtual school garden tour and educational broadcast event. Think virtual school assembly...by kids for kids! This event will make stops at seven school gardens from Hawaii to D.C. and connect educators and students across the country to celebrate the power of school gardens! 

This event can be viewed as a 45-minute live-stream or accessed afterwards as separate lesson videos, each lasting about 3-5 minutes.

Each school garden stop has accompanying activities for students to do in the classroom or at home. Check them out in the Viewer Guide

This celebration of school gardens is for everyone - we'd love if you invited others to join us! We've created a digital toolkit to help you get the word out, including a shareable one-pager, sample social media posts, graphics, and more! 

April is Kids Garden Month! 
We're partnering with KidsGardening to celebrate all throughout the month of April. Head to Kids Garden Month and share with them "What do you love about your garden?" for chances to receive weekly prizes and one of six grand prizes of $500 specifically for school gardens.

Be sure to register!

COUNTDOWN TO THE FIRST-EVER GROWING SCHOOL GARDENS TOUR (TUESDAY, APRIL 27)
Greetings!

We are just a few days away from our first-ever Coast-to-Coast Virtual School Gardens Tour! Thanks to everyone who helped spread the word, we have 2,000 participants registered - including educators, school garden nonprofits and people passionate about gardening!
We anticipate over 30,000 students nationwide will also be watching from from home or from school!

This email includes some helpful information to make your viewing experience easy and fun - including how to access the tour videos, activity content for students, and more!

HELPFUL DETAILS FOR TUESDAY'S VIRTUAL EVENT
All Event Videos Live Monday - Including Full Virtual Tour
All event videos - including the full, 28-minute virtual tour and the separate videos that comprise the tour - will be available for on growingschoolgardens.org starting Monday, April 26. This is a full day before the “official” viewing, allowing you to preview the content and plan any corresponding activities before watching with students or children.

“Official” Event Start Time - Tuesday, April 27 (10am PT)
The “official” kick-off time for the virtual event is Tuesday, April 27 at 10am PT. Since the videos will already be on the website, you can start and stop them as needed. We encourage you to participate at this time, knowing that thousands of other schools, teachers, and parents will be tuning in "live" then, too!

To bring the video lessons to life, each video posted on the Viewer Guide page has an activity extension and discussion prompts to share with your students.

We will continue picking winners each Friday through the end of the April to win a $100 Gardeners gift card.
