Hi everybody,
My name is Chris and I'm so excited to be a part of this forum. I'm a Sustainable Agriculture student in southern California who just got the job of a lifetime with a nonprofit organization building gardens in schools. The organization is brand new so I'm tasked with the development of the entire school gardening program. I'm hoping that somebody in our community can help me with a garden assessment tool kit that I can use to evaluate the health and sustainability of each garden. I'm also looking for an A to Z guide to establishing school gardens. I have found some info that I am compiling and sorting through  but I'm sondering what some of you all have used as resources, and some of the ways that you've faced challenges and achieved success. Congratulations on your new position! Here is a link to a school garden site assessment tool used in DC. Sam Ullery, cc’ed here, shared this with the SGSO Network a few years ago, and knows much more about it than I do. I hope that’s helpful!

We also have some very well documented examples of School Garden Assessment tools on our network's Best Practices page
Look at the Evaluating and Sharing Results Best Practice Document.

We also hosted a webinar on Identify and Measuring Impact which you can find archived on our webinar page

Hi John!

Thank you for sharing such great resources. I just wanted to let you know that the full report of data for each section of the 2014 California School Garden Survey listed on LifeLab (https://www.lifelab.org/2013/12/schoolgardensurvey2014/) is no longer available without a paid subscription to Survey Monkey. It'd be great if there was free access to these!
