Do you know of any organizations that donate seeds to schools specifically around supporting butterflies?

Thanks!
Jen

Hi Jen,

I have a monarch waystation garden at one of our elementary schools in our district. I would reach out to any local native plant orgs and your local Cornell Cooperative Extension. Milkweed supports monarchs, and many native plants support other butterflies as well. There is a direct relationship between pollinator and native plants and butters 🙂. In my experience native plant orgs and CCE will often donate appropriate plants/seeds. I have also acquired many of the plants by spreading word about the project in local permaculture groups. Some Master Gardeners have also donated plants to us. I have gotten funding through grants from our State's DEC and other orgs that are looking to support ecosystem rehab.

Hope this helps!

Monarch Watch has a donation program. Also, yes, asking local garden clubs to donate works well, depending on your location, parents might also have plants they can split. Monarda usually spreads quickly and is a great pollinator plant.
