Hi!

We're hosting a Community Chat for the Kids Garden Community this Thursday on the topic of weather-related disaster recovery and preparedness as it relates to youth gardens. This topic has come up recently with the LA wildfires and we'll have some folks on the call from extension agencies and individuals who have experienced multiple disasters to share best practices and advice. We can talk about fires, flooding, extreme temperatures, etc. If you have experience to share and/or are looking to learn about what to do to prepare or recover from an event, please join! And if you can't join, feel free to put any questions you have in the registration. Below is the event description and registration link.

This event is hosted by the Kids Garden Community.

Join us for a Community Chat on disaster preparedness and recovery! What is a Community Chat?

  • A dedicated space and time for informal peer-to-peer networking to talk through challenges (big or small!), share ideas, or connect with other members

  • Each Chat will focus on a broad theme with educators and practitioners available to answer your questions

  • Think of these as “office hours” - join for the entire session to listen and learn or hop on at your convenience anytime during the hour to ask a question

Next Up: Weather Woes – Disaster Preparedness and Recovery
Date: Thursday, February 20th 3:00-4:00PM ET

Join this Community Chat to ask your questions and share ideas about all things related to garden disasters caused by weather – fires, snow/ice, floods, etc.! We can chat about ways to prepare and protect your garden from expected events, best practices for edible garden safety after fires and floods, resources for recovery support, and anything else you'd like to discuss. From those new to gardening to seasoned educators, everyone is welcome!
