Hello fellow educators,
I hope you're well and enjoying the gifts the late fall season brings to us. I direct a garden program at a middle school in Boston, and something I'm always thinking about is how to teach nutrition to young people of color that prioritizes eating intuitively, ancestrally, pleasurefully, and wholly, without perpetuating fatphobia and diet culture. Most of the resources/curriculum I find online are either not kid-friendly or don't address these concerns. As someone who has no formal nutritionist/dietician training, this is a piece of garden teaching that I struggle to know how to teach.
I'm reaching out to ask if anyone here has any culturally competent / justice-oriented nutrition resources, activities, curriculum that they like? or people/places they can direct me to?
thank you!
