Hello School Garden Mentorship Community,

Our next workshop is just around the corner, Tuesday, May 7th from 3:30-4:30. We will be digging into "Summer Maintenance and Volunteer Management" with an amazing panel of three school garden mentors. As summer maintenance is a common challenge for school gardens, we are excited to be offering a panel of mentors with diverse perspectives and experience on this topic.

Our School Garden Mentor Panelists for this session are:
🌱 Myra Connaty, Fort Rupert Elementary (SD 85) and the Gwa’sala-’Nakwaxda’xw School
🌱 Michelle Roberge, McLeod Elementary (SD 57)
🌱 Matthew Kemshaw, Flourish School Food Society (SD62)

Myra Connaty is a Teacher Librarian and Garden Coordinator for both Fort Rupert Elementary (SD 85) and the Gwa’sala-’Nakwaxda’xw School in Port Hardy. Her spare time is spent growing organic food and beautiful flowers at Connaty Farms for the local North Island Farmers Market.

Michelle Roberge is a parent extraordinaire with McLeod School’s Farm to School program. Over a decade plus, McLeod's farm to school program has grown leaps and bounds to include a greenhouse and garden, two kitchen staff, indoor growing and curriculum, meal programs and kitchen/life skills education.

Matthew Kemshaw is the Executive Director of Flourish School Food Society. At Flourish, they aim to provide tailored food service to meet schools where they’re at, and support the slow development of a nourishing school food environment. Matthew holds an MA in Environmental Education and Communication, led the LifeCycles Project Society, and for years has acted as the School Garden Coordinator in SD 62, Sooke, BC.

See you there!
