Get inspired to keep using the garden as an outdoor classroom throughout the fall season!
Join us this Tuesday, October 15th for the final School Garden Mentorship workshop on winterizing the school garden and seasonal garden activities.
This month's mentor is seasoned garden educator, Naomi Kulhawy. Naomi will share themes and lesson ideas to engage students in outdoor learning in the fall. Get excited to mulch, compost, cove crop, plant garlic and more with your class!
Meet our SGM Mentor
Naomi is the manager at KinPark Youth Urban Farm, an initiative of Cowichan Green Community. She started at the park in 2019 and has been working with youth of all ages ever since offering programming year-round in their market garden and surrounding gardens including food forest, mini orchard and native meadow restoration site. She also facilitates programming offsite in a local elementary school garden and guest facilitates for schools throughout the year. Naomi has a heart for young people and loves watching as they learn outside with their hands in the dirt. She is constantly inspired by what sparks interest in a child’s eyes and works to shape programming to that inspiration. Sometimes it’s all about going with the flow be it weather, garden needs, or a child’s attention. She is excited to help others do the same in whatever growing space they might have.
See you Tuesday!
