The Northeast Institutional Repository Day 2021 (NIRD21) Program Committee is pleased to issue its Call for Proposals for the third annual Northeast Institutional Repository Day, a free event that brings together all in the Northeast (and beyond!) who manage or are interested in institutional repositories, digital collections, and digital preservation. Understanding the current environment and financial challenges faced this year, NIRD21 will be a virtual event.

Thursday, December 2, 2021 (time: TBD)

Virtual event (Zoom link will be provided to registrants)

The NIRD21 Program Committee is looking for proposals to cover a variety of topics including, but not limited to:

  • Unique institutional repository (IR) collections or collections challenges;
  • IR outreach initiatives or collaborations;
  • IR metadata interoperability, ingest, or maintenance;
  • IR workflows, policy, or training;
  • Dissertations and theses and the IR;
  • Innovations or issues related to stewardship of IR material;
  • Building relationships with IR depositors or contributors;
  • Repository migration;
  • Repository metrics;
  • Improving equity and inclusion for IR contributors and users;
  • Failed projects and lessons learned;
  • Web and IR accessibility.

Proposals that are platform agnostic are particularly encouraged. The Program Committee is not accepting vendor-driven proposals for NIRD21.

The Program Committee is requesting that proposals fall into the following formats:

  • Lightning Talk (5-10 min) - a brief, free-standing presentation, with or without slides, including Q&A;
  • Presentation (20, 30, or 45 min) - a more comprehensive, free-standing presentation or panel, including Q&A;
  • Workshop (20, 30, or 45 min) - an instructor-led workshop on a topic or tool.

Important dates:

  • Deadline for submission: August 31, 2021
  • Notification of acceptance: October 1, 2021
