I actually now see the box on my FB page. I had actually thought that
it would import content into the feed. But it looks like that's not
how things work.

This raises one question. If I important content through the Notes
function, and if someone comments on a post, will that comment import
into my blog? Or does someone have to initiate the comment within a
post appearing in the app box?

Thanks for any info.

That is not how things work in the current version. The next version,
currently in development, will publish excerpts of posts to the feed,
but I don't know when that will be released.

No. Comments made in the feed will not get pulled back into the blog,
only comments made in the app.

They need to be inside the app for me to capture their comment into
the blog - you can't insert WordPress's comment form in the place of
Facebook's inside the feed.

Hi John,

Thanks for your replies. They're very helpful. One quick question
then: Is there a way to make the app more prominent on the FB page, a
way that will help ensure that users will see it and access content
through it? Right now, users read the content that is front and center
in the news feed. But if the app is off to the side, I worry that they
won't see it. I think you're on to something really good here, and so
wanted to clarify. In the meantime, I will be on the lookout for your
updates.

Thanks,
Dan

Well, you can create various promotional items for your page which
link to the application - static FBML boxes informing the user to go
check out the application, for example - but this is headed into "how
to market a Facebook application" rather than being specific to WPBook.

Users can also add the application to their own profile, not just the
profile of your FB page.

Even when the application gains the ability to post to the newsfeed,
it will still be linking to the commenting in the application itself -
if people comment on the news item (excerpt, or maybe even just title)
that will not be a comment on the blog post.

You could do this manually today, linking to the "permalink" of the
post within FB in a note posted on the wall of your page.

If you just want to notify people of blog posts, you can use the
"Notes" application provided by Facebook and attach it to an RSS feed
from your blog.
