Dr. Stephen (Steve) E. Cross is the Executive Vice President for Research of the Georgia Institute of Technology. As such, he has the responsibility for Georgia Tech’s research strategy with direct oversight of interdisciplinary research centers, applied research, technology transition, economic development, and research administration. He also holds faculty appointments as a Professor in the College of Engineering, School of Industrial and Systems Engineering; and as an Adjunct Professor in the School of Interactive Computing, College of Computing; and the College of Management. Before joining Georgia Tech in 2003, he was the Director of the Carnegie Mellon Software Engineering Institute in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania (USA). Dr. Cross has led studies on the topics of disruptive innovative and adaptive organizations for the government organizations. He received his PhD from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 1983. Dr. Cross is a Fellow of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE).
