The aim of this project is to add all popular Bangla typing methods from Bangladesh and India in a single interface. Current release supports English to Bangla Phonetic typing support for home users, Mouse Based Bangla typing support for newbies and for professionals Traditional Keyboard Layout based Bangla typing support. Keyboard layouts those are added with the current release are -
- Probhat.
- Munir Optima.
- Avro Easy - An easy to learn keyboard layout from OmicronLab.
- Bornona - The easiest Bangla keyboard layout we have found yet! From "The Safeworks".
- National (Jatiya) - Standard Bangla Keyboard Layout in Bangladesh designed by Bangladesh Computer Council (BCC).
Avro Keyboard supports multiple keyboard layouts. And all the layouts are easily accessible from keyboard layout menu. Currently supported keyboard layouts are:

Avro Keyboard works as a system level keyboard interface. You can type Bangla anywhere with all typing methods (English to Bangla phonetic typing, keyboard layout based typing, mouse based typing) supported by Avro Keyboard.
Avro Keyboard offers much flexible user interface for even novice computer users. It is much better than Windows Input Locale as there is no necessary to edit your system language from control panel. Users can use Avro Keyboard and any other keyboard in any language defined in control panel simultaneously. It is possible to use Hindi, US English, UK English, Japanese, French etc. any language as system language and Avro Keyboard to use Bangla/Bengali. When Avro Keyboard is "System Default" mode, users are able to use their system language, when in "Bangla Keyboard" mode, no matter which language is active in the system, only Bangla typing is possible.
Most Bangla typing softwares offer only system tray based keyboard interface for users. Here Avro Keyboard has two different and full functional interfaces - Top Bar on Desktop, Icon on system tray. Users are at liberty to use any mode which suits his best. Even more, the Top Bar is able to appear as semi-transparent when inactive so that you can see behind it!
You can use "Single Key Mode Switching" by using any one key from F1 to F12 to switch between Bangla keyboard mode and System Keyboard mode.There is also Ctrl+Spcae key combination option. Use what you like.
This is a must have feature for any virtual keyboard interface like Avro keyboard. But all including Microsoft seem to overlook it. With this handy tool, users can see the actual image of the current keyboard layout anytime they need. Now there is no need to print or draw a keyboard layout and attach it on your computer table. This keyboard layout viewer is totally flexible, you can use Zoom-in and Zoom-out for better viewing purpose. Even more, this Layout Viewer can be configured to come up automatically in Bangla mode and disappear again in System Keyboard mode, nice choice when you are learning a new keyboard layout!
Like older methods of Bangla typing, you don't have to change the fonts every time you change keyboard between Bangla and English. Again, for using some matra/kar/short form of Bangla vowels like "o-kar", "ou-kar", you can use only one key to type them. While Avro Keyboard is available on Android, Apple iOS, Linux, Mac, and Windows operating systems, Bijoy Bayanno is only compatible with Mac and Windows PC systems.
The second icon in the top bar lets you open a dropdown menu to change the keyboard from the English language to Bangla. You can simply press the interactive button to automatically change the characters. The current language will be shown in the toolbar.
You can select a hotkey from F1 to F12 that will quickly let you switch between keyboards. Additionally, the CTRL and spacebar keys will let you change the mode. Avro Keyboard will track both the Bangla and default keyboard modes throughout all the applications on your PC for a seamless user experience.
The built-in dictionary lets you completely customize the autocorrect. You can add and edit words within the auto-correct directory. The keyboard layouts let you type easier and quicker with the automatic vowel formation feature. If you type a short version of a vowel, then the long-form will automatically appear.
Both Bangla and English characters are available in the same fonts. The chosen font will stay the same even when you switch between keyboards. You can type Bangla text in Adobe Photoshop, Facebook, Microsoft Office Word, Outlook Express, MSN Messenger, Notepad, etc.
You can install Avro Keyboard onto your PC or get the portable edition. If you have an Apple device, then you can use iAvro. Additionally, ibus-avro is available for Linux systems. The developers made an Avro Keyboard extension for the Google Chrome web browser.

Looking at your screenshot, you have English above Bangla as input source choices.
I am not sure if you can promote Bangla to first input source option usong the settings cog icon for input sources.
If you want Bangla keyboard input only, put it to top of list and/or delete English input option from that list.
It may work better by the terminal, how to change your locale using this link. It essentially has you use the sudo dpkg-reconfigure command to set your language and pick the primary. Then you log out and back in to see the changes (which should also fix your keyboard issue).
`Hello, I've been using Avro keyboard for over a year now, and I haven't figured out how to make conjuncts. Usually if I type a combination of letters the right one is auto-suggested, but I want to be able to type combinations of letters to make my own conjuncts because sometimes I can't get the right one.
