FINELY GROUND GOTHIC AND CYBERPUN http://www.emerald.net/grinder/ The =
Grinder Books and Recordings Web Site, spotlighting gothic and cyberpunk =
art and music is, at least for the time being, mainly a showcase of the =
works produced by site authors John Bergin and Gareth Branwyn. It =
promises to be far more once the ubiquitous "under construction" is =
banished from the pages. Currently, you can tour Bergin's recent work, =
"From Inside", a gory, dark graphic novel that takes the reader on a =
train ride through a post-apocalyptic hell, nicely showing off Bergin's =
talent in the process. Be forewarned; there's plenty of =
bandwidth-clogging graphic art on this site, but the results, =
especially the image map on the main page, are worthwhile. Grind away, =
webheads.
Escher, M.C. http://www.texas.net/escher/ Visit the World of Escher, a =
fascinating educationally based site that explores the Dutch graphic =
artist M.C. Escher's unique and often impossible work. From an early =
age, Escher was fascinated by repetition and infinite patterns. He =
explored with great enthusiasm the regular division of the plane in his =
tessellation or symmetry drawings linking math and art. Impossible =
buildings, spatial illusions, perspective drawings, woodcuts, and =
lithographs have fascinated young and old for more than half a century. =
A great teachers' resource. Is there another artist that links math and =
art like Escher? Bring your students into the magical world of Escher. =
Enter your own tessellation in the on-line tessellation contest, win =
prizes, certificates and possibly an entry into our Hall of Fame. =
Opinions and addition information on Escher are welcome for inclusion in =
the site.
