Hello!

My name is Rachel Karchmer and I am a doctoral student at Syracuse
University in New York. I am beginning a study of classroom teachers
(K-12) who are exemplary at integrating Internet resources into classroom
learning. It has become apparent that with the introduction of new
technologies, literacy educators need to be prepared to successfully
infuse them into their classroom curriculum. I am writing to ask you a
favor:

Please tell me about any classroom teachers you know to be exemplary at
using Internet technologies in their classrooms with their students.
Their stories will help inform teacher education and staff development
programs in powerful ways.

I would appreciate it if you would send me a direct message
(raka...@syr.edu) including the teacher's name, e-mail address, and the
URL of his/her classroom homepage (if possible).

Thank you for contributing to this initial phase of my study. I would be
happy to share my report with anyone interested. I expect it to be
completed by June 1999.

I apologize for any cross postings.

You might contact Jamieson McKenzie, a leading consultant on the use of
technology in the classroom. He has a very fine Web site - I believe
it's www.fromnowon.org. I'm sure he would have some excellent leads.

Good luck in your studies at Syracuse U.'s School of Education, an
institution I once covered as the education writer for the Syracuse
Herald-Journal.
